Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recent progresses of the World-Wide Web (WWW) are remarkable. Already huge amount of information is available on the WWW, and it is expected to grow further. However, in general, it is not that easy for users to retrieve relevant information from the distributed information resources on the WWW. A user navigation processes on the WWW should consist of two sub processes; a process for locating relevant information resources based on their information needs, and that for browsing resources around the ones located initially. This paper first argues the resource discovery problem on the WWW, and proposes an incremental approach to it. A currently being developed prototype system, named TTTAN Ver.1, for the WWW navigation is then described. Finally, future research directions are discussed in terms of intelligent information processing including natural language processing.
