Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) On-line help systems of the personal computers have been become popular. However, the novice users, especially users past middle age, can not operate the existing computers. This paper proposes an on-line help system designed for those users. We provide a user interface using a book-metaphor to enable them to restore their usual knowledge. We improve the visibility with big characters and the color scheme.Furthermore, we translate all technical terms into natural words, and simplify the steps of the operations to be understood easily. All of the help topics can be shown with a single task. We have conducted experiments on compared our trial system with the existing system. The results of our experiments show that our system is useful for beginner users past middle age.
