Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes an image retrieval technique using genetic algorithms (GAs) with user interaction that is effective in reflecting dynamically the individual user subjectivity in the retrieval results. We propose also how to make good use of the personal history information reflecting user subjectivity in the retrieval technique in order to further increase retrieval efficiency. This technique which does not find the image by representing strictly what a user means for an image but by triggering it in the form of feature selection in the retrieval system, accomplishes image retrieval by guessing user subjectivity without relying on the user's representation of an image.
