Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Performance of iterative decoding for various ME^2PR4 channels serially concatenated with code rate 8/9 or 16/17 RSC code is evaluated. The required SNR to achieve a bit error rate of 10^<-4> is obtained by computer simulation and it is compared with that of the conventional 16/17(0, 6/6) coded E^2PR4ML system. The results show that the proposed systems of coding rate 8/9 and 16/17 exhibit excellent performance compared with the conventional system. The proposed system with code rate 8/9 has good performance in comparatively low recording densities, while the system with coding rate 16/17 shows good performance in high densities.
