A New (1, 7) RLL Coded PRML System in Magneto-Optical Recording

Abstract(in English) PR(1, 2, 3, 2, 1) ML system is proposed as a new (1, 7) RLL coded partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) system for magneto-optical recording. Assuming that a magneto-optical recording system is linear and its impulse response is Gaussian, the error rate performance is obtained by computer simulation, and the performance is compared with that of conventional PR(1, 2, 2, 1) ML system, which is well known for its good performance. The results show that the error rate performance of our system is better than that of PR(1, 2, 2, 1) ML system.
