Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a method for detecting free areas from stereo image. Segmentation is carried out by using edge and HSL color information, and free areas are selected on the assumption that the observer stands free areas. Point correspondence is performed by drawing virtual lines on a road surface. The distance and the direction of free areas are calculated by using stereo or monocular measurement.
