Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a method for face idecntification. In this method, first, we extract feature points automatically in face organ region and apply Gabor transformation around the feature points and then we compare the input information extracted from image with data base. The facial feature points extraction is performed by detecting the facial orgarn regions with color information and edge information, followed by a corner detection in each detected facial organ region with the SUSAN operator. Two efforts are made to achieve the acceptable processing speed : 1) we design the optimal Gabor filters with the arrangement theory that uses fewer directions and layers. 2) The transformation with Gabor filters is only applied over the regions around the facial feature points, not the whole input image.
