Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fractal image compression using discrete voronoi tesellation is proposed. Fractal image compression method compresses the image by dividing original image into non-overlapped ranges, and searching most similar domain for each range, and storing affine transformation from domain to range. This method acheaves high compression ratio comparing with JPEG method or others. In this paper, we use discrete voronoi polygons as ranges. In the past, the rectangular shape used to be used as ranges, but by changing shape of ranges from ractangle to polygon, it is possible to construct the adaptive shape of range which represents the structure of image, and to obtain the high quality restored image by using less ranges.
