Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have proposed a stereo method that can reconstruct 3D structures robustly by matching left and right images based on regions given by color segmentation. However, this method based on color regions cannot acquire correct matching for surfaces on objects with textures because the segmented regions are too small. Therefore, this paper proposes a 3D reconstruction method for scene both with uniform color and texture regions by separating these two regions in stereo images. The texture regions are separated from uniform color regions by evaluating the degree of color differences from neighboring pixels. The surfaces with the separated texture regions are reconstructed by detecting seed areas with high accurate matching and growing the seed areas by taking account of the correlation and validity of texture. The surfaces with the uniform color regions are reconstructed by the stereo method based on color segmentation.
