Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An approach to the problem of estimating a velocity field on sea surface is proposed, which is based on multiple template matching and relaxation. The proposed method consists of three major procedures as follows: selection of reference images including rather rich features, template matching for initialization of displacement vectors, and then rearrangement through a relaxation process which is also effective for eliminating outlying data. In this work, we introduce a set of compatibility coefficients in order to realize reasonable matching objects of non-rigidity. Some experiments with real frames from the NOAA satellite images have shown the effectiveness of the proposed method.
