Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In September 1999 we have put the ADA(Active Driving Assist) system which has head-distance control(ACC) and other functions using the stereo vision system, on the automobile market. In the stereo vision system, the images taken through two CCD cameras in a car is processed to the distance image. The distance image and the original image are analyzed to detect vehicles, obstacles and white lane markers in front. With developing the precise calibration functions for the sensitivity and the coordinates of the left and the right images and other additional functions, we succeeded in making the stereo vision system fit for the practical use. This paper presents the profile of the stereo vision system.
