Automated System of Analyzing Traffic Events Based on Image Recognition Technology

Abstract(in English) One of the most important application on ITS is to analyze various traffic activities and construct traffic monitoring system. We have developed the tracking algorithm based on Spatio-Temporal Markov Random Field model. This enables automated acquisition of detailed information from traffic images. In this paper we constructed an automated system which is able to acquire traffic event statistics such as vehicle counts distinguishing travel directions, velocities, frequent paths and so on. And the vehicle counts along day, week and month are also able to be obtained automatically. In the future it will become possible to integrate traffic information at many intersection and control traffic signal in real time automatically.
