Abstract(in English) This paper presents a method for quantification of shrinking of lung lobe from chest X-ray CT images. In the case, of malignant tumors, it is often observed that the tissue surrounding tumors is pulled to the tumors. It causes the phenomena that vessels and bronchus run toward tumors or that lung lobes in which tumors exist shrink. Although studies to quantify the degree of vessel and bronchus convergence have been reported already, papers have not been published concerning quantification of the degree of shrinking of lung lobes. In this paper, we try to quantify the degree of shrinking of lung lobes using the three dimensional Voronoi division. The proposed method was applied to twenty-three chest CT images. It is shown that the proposed measure is correlated significantly with the degree of the convergence evaluated by medical experts.
