Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we address the problem of evaluating configurations of point data in surface-based registration, and propose a new method. In the conventional method, the local shape around one point was approximated by a plane. This approximation is insufficient for representation of 3-D shape especially when it has high curvature. In our method, the local shape is approximated by multiple planes that obtained from surface points around one point. We have found that the proposed method is better correlated to surface-based registration accuracy than the conventional method.
