Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently demands for a video surveillance system have increased. For a video surveillance, it is very important to survey the wide environment and to reduce the burden of surveyor by automatic detection of unusual situations. To satisfy these demands, we propose an event detection method to get important infomation which a surveyor needs. In the proposed method, we extract objects in an environment by comparing incoming images and background images, analyze their motion by examining changes in image sequence and detect events they bring. We use a high-resolution omnidirectional video camera to achieve a wide range of observation. Experiments on the proposed event detection system have shown that the system can detect a number of events in an indoor environment.
