Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a user-oriented adaptation method to improve the performance of an online character recognizer. This method manages user dictionary templates by applying a caching algorithm. Therefore, an effective template that varies by time is maintained within the maximum number of registered template. In addition, this method cope with the negative effect of distinction between similar categories resulting from the registering of a pattern, and it solves problems of erroneous adapting caused by a user's erroneous correction. In an experiment with our method using 6 sets of the handwritten Japanese character pattern database "kuchibue_d"[1], the recognition rate increased from 89.25% to 92.30% when the maximum number registered templates was limited to 500.
