Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the Hand-mouse, which is a novel wearable input interface and has similar functions with the usual mouse. It is very difficult to apply human interfaces for the usual desktop environments to the wearable environments due to lack of the mobility and the operativity. We realize the Hand-mouse by classifying each pixel as a hand pixel or a background pixel based on an approximation of the color histogram with a Gaussian mixture models in each image taken from a camera hung on the wearer's ear and by fitting the simple model of hand shapes. We evaluate the performance of recognizing the hand with complicated backgrounds and changing light conditions.
