Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Biometric personal identification technology, which automatically recognizes a person using distinguishing physical or behavioral features, has now been used in stand-alone security applications including physical access control and computer login administration. There are problems to be solved besides the technical aspects, such as accuracy or cost performance, to have biometrics technology widely used in network-based services such as electronic commerce, as part of the infrastructure in the upcoming Internet society. In this panel discussion, we explore the possible problems and keys to solutions from diversified viewpoints including technology, implementation, business, and interaction with the society.
