Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Improvement of air-tightness and heat-insulation functions of houses in recent years has brought closed living space and increasing allergens such as house dust mites and molds. Mites, the main cause of allergy, are difficult to observe with the naked eye, so the observation of their ecology has been entrusted to special research institutes like a hygienic laboratory. On this issue, we have investigated a method for quantitative estimation of density of active mites by processing microscopic images of mites taken directly by a camera. In this report, we propose a LmedS estimation of a background scene with more robustness, making the method more reliable. We also study the reliability of this density estimation method. The validity of this approach is verified through comparative experiments on images of mites.
