Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An image of an object is created by surface reflection of an incident light. The Dichromatic reflection model shows that surface reflection consists of two components;diffuse and specular reflection. Specular reflection is usually polarized, thus images containing a specular component with differrent intensity can be obtained by rotating the polarization filter. We show that a good separation of both components can be achieved, without assuming the uniformity of diffuse reflection, if we use their probabilistic independence property.
