Examination of the Feature Extraction for the Book Image Identification in the New Library System

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a user friendly library system using the image processing. This system uses the images from book covers and the face images of users for library administration. The images of lending are recorded in the lending list. A returned book is identified from a list of lent books by processing an image of the book cover and comparing it to books that have been lent. Administration of lending can be checked on a browser. This system does not need to affix ID seals to the every book, nor issue ID cards for the every user. The identification of books uses low resolution features extracted from book cover images. To identify series of books which are similar and different of small area, the partial features which has important information to distinct these books are used. The experiments show that identification of the books is possible using the low resolution features and the partial features.
