Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose an expanded method for a street number matching in Japanese address recognition in order to read the street number having a conjunct expression such that a building number or a room number follows a street number. A conventional method for street number matching uses the knowledge about the number expression formats, which is represented by the expression patterns of street numbers. However if we apply the method to the conjunct expressions, the number of the expression patterns would become huge. To cope with this problem, we developed two-step matching-method that after hypotheses of street number expressions, building number expressions and room number expressions are generated, those hypotheses are combined to make consistent expression patterns.
