Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Occlusion and shadowing are important to overlay virtual objects naturally upon real images from camera. In order to do this, it is necessary to aquire the depth map of real scene from observer's veiwing position. But it is difficult to obtain a depth map for the cameras mounted on the HMD, because their number and resolution are insufficient for reliable stereo sensing.n this paper, we propose a client-server sensing sheme to solve this problem. The server sensor located near the observer supplies the depth information to the client sensor mounted on HMD to enable the client obtaining the depth information from the observer's point of view in enough resolution and accuracy.
