Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a concept of virtual wheelchair experiencing system and a method for measuring three-dimensional shape of pedestrian road. The virtual wheelchair experiencing system is a system which enables us to experience driving wheelchair virtually. The user of this system can experience various difficulties visible for real wheelchair users only. This system is also useful for planning a barrier-free town. Development of a method that measures three-dimensional shape of pedestrian road is required for realizing virtual wheelchair experiencing system. This report proposes a method which can measure three-dimensional shape of pedestrian road by employing a light cutting method. Visualization method of the shape of pedestrian road is also presented. We produced an experimental portable laser range finder having small wheels for measuring road shape and performed measurement of shape of real road. The result showed effectness of the proposed method.
