Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The sophisticated and integrated technologies for processing the multimedia content are essential building blocks for creating a highly advanced information-based society. We can expect the creation of such a society both to impact and then in turn be impacted by various service areas, including broadcasting, publishing, medical treatment, entertainment, and communications. In order to realize a highly advanced information-based society, there are a number of questions that we must first deal with, and we look to advanced multimedia content processing technologies for solutions, where multimedia information base systems play one of the most important roles. In this paper, these technologies are discussed based on the author's conducting research project under the "Research for the Future" program which is organized by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS).
