Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new video representation for content retrieval using short-time action descriptions. The target scenes to be realized by the proposed method are not only simple plays by a single player such as 'dribble' in soccer, but rather complicated plays by plural players in a screen like 'pass', etc. The proposed method is unique because it employs the short-time action description which corresponds to a set of temporally and spatially local features in a scene, and evaluates its temporal transition patterns in retrieval. The simulation results applied to tennis and soccer scenes confirm that the proposed method improves the efficiency and flexibility in retrieving rather complicated actions by several persons or objects, which cannot be retrieved by the conventional methods.
