Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) I propose algorithms for estimating the chromaticity of the scene illuminant and the body reflection component of object surfaces based on multiple highlights on those surfaces. First, the tri-planar orthographic projection for color data is introduced and its properties, especially its redundancy, are shown. Then, using this projection method, an algorithm for estimating the chromaticity of the body reflection component is described and the concept of the RGB discrepancy function us defined. By minimizing the RGB discrepancy function, the chromaticity of the sence illuminant can be determined. That the proposed method is able to provide good estimation results even for optically rough object surfaces is shown through experimental results.
