Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A method is described for estimating both the spectral-power distribution of Illumination and the surface-spectral reflectances of objects by mean of a six-color camera. The dynamic range of the camera is extended for sensing the high intensity level of highlights. We suppose in a scene that the object surfaces are made of an inhomogeneous dielectric material which is described by dichromatic reflection model. The process for estimating the spectral information is composed of several steps of the finite-dimensional linear model representation of wavelength functions, highlight detection and illuminant estimation, data normalization and image segmentation, reflectance estimation. The reliability of the developed camera system and the algorithms is demonstrated in an experiment.
