| Abstract(in English) | This paper presents an image processing system aimed for traffic surveillance. The system is applicable even in environments such as in a tunnel on a highway where only ill-conditioned images are available, that is, images viewed from low angle or with little contrast. In the systen we have employed an algorithm consisting of two modules ; a car detection module using spatio-temporal image analysis and a vehicle tracking module using template matching by computing normalized cross correlation. As the hardware components we utilize PC and DSP-board which are available in market. By implementing the algorithm to the hardware we have the entire system operating in real time. The stable performance is shown through experimental results. |
