Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Traffic measurement plays an important part in ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) as an useful information for control centers and drivers. In this paper, we propose a method which detects vehicles and measures traffic from road images taken in a tunnel. In a tunnel, camera height is so low that vehicles often overlap each other when traffic is congested. And it is difficult to separate them. In this method, we detect vehicles from their horizontal edges and their left-side area. Then we count vehicles by tracking them during settled frames and using accumulated estimation. This algorithm is tested using traffic images in a tunnel.
