Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a method to reduce a variance of measured headway distance. It is important for tracking a preceding vehicle in such as an adaptive cruise control system. In this method, first, headway distances are measured by both a stereo disparity and a difference of the size of a preceding vehicle on image, and one of them which has smaller variance is selected as the headway distance. We have developed a headway distance measuring system using this method. We find that this system is effective in tracking vehicle in less than 20m in headway distance.
