Visualization of Pictorial Feature Space by Using Virtual Reality

Abstract(in English) We have developed a user interaface for retrieving or browsing pictorial data base, where a distribution of data in a high dimensional feature space is represented as a scatter diagram of thumbnail images in a VR-spcace. The transformation from a feature space to a 3-dimensional space changes successively. It makes spatial-temporal changing of the diagram. Similarity between each image and a group of key images is represented as the size in a 3-dimensional space.
