Real-time global motion estimation of affine parameters : for a real-time implementation by software

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a method of estimating global motion of affine parameters, which requires so little computational cost that its real-time implementation can be easily achieved. While the method estimates motion parameters on the basis of motion vectors, it repeats computation of motion vectors and estimation of motion parameters from them interchangingly, so that one of process can improve the other. The method employs a pixel-wise matching to compute motion vectors. To reduce computational cost, the method selects only a fraction of motion vectors to put the matching test. By using the estimated motion parameters, the global motion is compensated and then moving objects are detected on the basis of errors of the compensation. We implements the method on a genaral PC and apply it on both synthesized and real image sequences. As a result, it proves to be effective and able to achieve real-time computation.
