| 抄録(和) | 本論文では, 複写やファクシミリによる転送等でつぶれが生じ, 劣化した低品質文字を対象とした認識手法を提案する.劣化文字の認識率低下の原因は, 文字の変形であると考えられる.多少のパターンの変形に強い手法として, 部分空間法や複合類似度法が知られている.これらの手法は訓練データから母集団の分布形状を推定し, 分散の大きい成分の影響を軽減することで高精度な認識を達成するものであるが, つぶれは偶発的なものであり, 訓練データを集めて統計的な手法を用いただけでは対処しきれないと思われる.本論文では, 文字画像からつぶれた領域を抽出する方法を与え, つぶれが生じた場合にデータの分布がどのように変化するかを考察し, 未知入力画像から求まるつぶれに応じて複合類似度法や部分空間法で用いられる固有値・固有ベクトルを動的に補正する方法を提案する.さらに, 認識不能文字のリジェクト機能も考慮し, 実用的な低品質文字認識手法を提案する. |
| 抄録(英) | In this paper, a new algorithm for recognizing character images of poor quality, especially the ones that are blurred by copy or transfered with facsimile, is proposed. It is difficult to recognize such images precisely because the images are changed in shape. It is known that the multiple similarity method and subspace method can recognize a pattern robustly if the pattern is changed a little. These methods use the subspace that are estimated from training data. But in many cases, damages by copy or facsimile occurs accidentally, which can not be solved by statistical method, no matter how many samples are prepared. In this paper, a method that detects the blurred area of the character image is presented. We investigate how distribution of data changes because of the blur. Then the eigenvectors and eigenvalues that are used in multiple similarity method and subspace are modified according to the change. Finally, a practical recognition algorithm for blurred character images is proposed. |
