Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a new method to measure the location of a 3-D object and recognize its shape using the light source having a range pattern with rings and spokes. This method is carried out as follows;first, the range pattern is projected onto the object, and its image is taken by a TV camera. Secondly, from this range image, the 3-D location of the object is estimated. Finally, from the information on geometrical distortions of the pattern image, the range pattern image is classified into a set of the primitive patterns and estimated the pose of the 3-D object in the scene. In these procedures, a complex mapping transformation method is used, in which an ellipse is transformed into a line. By computer simulations using the heuristic information with shape of the pattern, we show that this method is applicable to search feature in the scene.
