A template matching method following object size change

Abstract(in English) This paper presents a new object tracking method. It automatically follows the object and estimates of the object size change. Under the situation of changing the object size, conventional method using template matching tracks the object unstably. This method extracts object image using separated (upper and lower) templates. The object size is calculated by the distance between two positions that templates match. Continuously renewing the size of templates as well as image, the method can track the object stably. Automatic camera control (pan, zoom, etc.) is also achieved by this method.
