Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new Method of feature extraction for palmprint is presented in this report. In palmprint image, there are many creases which are organized like the ridges. Usual fingerprint feature extraction algorithms can not extract, ridges in such situation. Then, the goal of this research is to construct new method of feature extraction which can extract ridges even at the such areas. At first, original palmprint, image is divided into local images. The candidates of ridge in the local area are extracted from each local images of palmprint. And, only one candidate is selected as ridge in the area by estimation of continuity of some properties. Experiments with palmprint images indicate that proposed method can extract ridges better especially in the areas which the mixed ridges and creases.
