Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, the logarithmic likelihood in fingerprint verification method based on HMM is examined. First, we describe that the offset value have influence on the likelihood in training HMM. Its value is added to avoid proberbilities become zero, and it is indicated that the value from 10^<-3> to 10^<-4> is proper. Next, the codebook size used in vector quantization is investigated. In the size of 256, the likelihood is not stable, because the ratio of codes (symbols) whose frequency is lower increases. Also in the 64 size, vector quantization errors are increased. It is shown that the optimal size is 128.
