Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we compare thinning algorithms for fingerprint identification. First, binarization was applied on a fingerprint image. Next, the binary fingerprint image was smoothed and then was thinned. In order to evaluate a goodness of the algorithms, we introduce a criterion which measures how feature points of an original fingerprint image are preserved. The comparative study with 5 fingerprint images suggests that the Hilditch's algorithm is best for fingerprint identification.
