Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, multimedia database becomes an important research issue because multimedia database is one of the best way to a platform for advanced multimedia applications. In this paper, we reports about our MPEG video database prototype, and its mechnisms for MPEG video data storage. In this paper, we explain about three topics as follows. (1) We can build a database of structured MPEG video based on 'shot' using scene-cut decection techniques, and object-database. (2) We can build a parallel and distributed database using distributed shared virtuel memory. It is useful for better through-put. (3) We can build a multimedia database on OS's file system using memory-mapped file.
