Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have so far made a proposal of a character recognition that would make it possible to recognize the printed characters more extreamly than the conventional pattern matching, by utilizing the character structure information. As a measure to cope with the problems, such as the difference in the form of a character between various types of fonts and the noise, in the printed Kanji character recognition developed based on the structure information, we present in this paper a method of preparing new standard patterns for each character, by which the problem of the difference in the form of a character will be solved. For each phototype character, we prepared a standard pattern that would represent 11 sample patterns of a different size or a font, and carried out an experiment in roughly classifying 2,965 JIS level-1 Kanji characters of each size and of 4 types of Mincho typefaces.
