Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In classifier combination, the degree of recognition accturacy improvement depends not only on how to combine classifiers, but also on how much classifiers complement each other. We propose a method to design a classifier complementary to an existent one.In the proposed method, difference principal components are obtained as features which make easy to separate between patterns belonging to a given class and those misrecognized in the class. As the discriminant function,Fisher's linear discriminant function is applied using not only linear terms but also quadratic terms.Through experiments using handwritten numeral data,it was confirmed that the misrecognition rate significantly reduces.
