Abstract(in English) | Some researchers in Japan may believe that the research level on character recognition in Japan is ranked very high in the world. It is true in a sence, but it is not without conditions. In this paper, the author points the background which has enabled OCR business to successes in Japan. It is noted that in present many researchers in the world are tackling with the recognition of cursive English words, while researchers in Japan seem not to be interrested in it. Neural networks and HMM are the main concern of the researchers, but how call they work? Is the future of the document OCR questionable? This paper dicusses these aspects also. |
