Abstract(in English) | As an information oriented society developed, the importance of the technology for verifying the identity of individuals is raised from the point of view of the progress of security. There are many studies about the verification of the identity of individuals using various distinctive feature of face, voice and so on. Writer verification is one of those studies. This paper describes a new method of off-line writer verification using Japanese handwriting. In our method, we extract two features which express individuality from handwriting. One is Peripheral Histogram that reflects the rough form of a character. The other is Sinogram that reflects the inclination and the length of the ingredients of line in a character. To prove the availability of our method, we performed a writer verification for fifty subjects. We could obtain about 4% average error rate on a database we provided. |
