Abstract(in English) We reported in our preveous paper that the additional use of the curvature feature of gray scale contour improves the accuracy of handwritten numeral recognition using the direction feature of the gradient. In this paper, We propose two new algorithms for getting more elaborate curvature feature from the gray scale contour, and evaluate the efficiency by handwritten numeral recognition experiments. The high recognition rate of 99.37% is achieved for handwritten numeral database "IPTP CDROM1" (Institute for Posts and Telecommunications Policy).
