Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Gabor filter-based features are useful for handprinted character recognition. One needs to optimize Gabor filter parameters because the performance of Gabor features depends strongly on Gabor filter parameters. One way to find the optimal values of the parameters is to statistically analize the influence of the parameters on the error rate. In this paper, we discuss a statistical analysis on Gabor features for handwritten numeral recognition by experimental design. In addition, we consider the properties of the Gabor parameters, based on the result of analysis.
