Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a method for three-dimensional object recognition by using self-similar tiling wavelet basis functions. The basis functions construct an optimal approximation subspace for each object. Since it is not needed to memorize the basis functions, memory requirements are reduced in this method. Compared to conventional methods, the method needs lesser number of computations, because the basis functions are localized and take values of only integers -1, 0, and 1. The method is successfully applied to recognize four kinds of model cars.
