Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new and simple method to recognize digital curves which is applicable to non-singly connected curves is described. The authors have developed a description method for figure recognition using a "self-distance function" which allows shift, scaling and rotational variation. To facilitate the self-distance function, we require only the pixel coordinates which make up the curves. So that, a priori information concerning the order of pixels of which the digital curve is composed is not required. Our method is effective in comparison to conventional methods of curve description. Experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed method.
