Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an automated extraction procedure of peripheral vessel shadows in chest X-ray images. The SN ratio of the shadows is very low and a prior knowledge about width and position of them is not enough. This procedure uses an active contour model (ACM) which has shape models of the vessel shadows. The ACM deforms the shape and traces contours of target vessel shadows in scale space. It also generates new contours, eliminates a part of contours, separates and integrates contours while tracing. Finally, we present several results which show usefulness of this method in extraction of peripheral vessel shadows.
