Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Motion vector quantization (MVQ) has a problem that it cannot react, to the complicated motion because a block is quantized in the fixed size. This paper proposes an adaptive method called VMVQ that, quantizes in a small block for complicated motion and in a big block for monotonous motion. A block is devided into quarters corresponding to the complexity of a block image. In the simulation for a video data (Flower Garden), the method improved 1.7dB of SN Ratio on average compared with motion vector quantization. In addition to that this method produced a fairly good consequence in the respect of visual estimation.
